Maryanne

Maryanne Tucker studied harp for 12 years under Louise Johnson of the Sydney Symphony. She completed a Bachelor of Music Studies and Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney, majoring in harp and German. She recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Psychology. During her studies, she performed with the Australian Youth Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House, the Adelaide Town Hall and on radio, with the Sydney Youth Orchestra, the SBS Youth Orchestra, the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and Conservatorium Chamber Orchestra. During this time Maryanne has appeared as a soloist at numerous events. Maryanne has also won several first places at the Sydney Harp Eisteddfod. Maryanne enjoys performing with the Seven Harp Ensemble on a regular basis. An important influence on Maryanne’s playing was several intensive summer camps studying with Alice Giles. More recently, she has begun further harp study with acclaimed harpist Heidi Lehwalder in the United States. Maryanne has direct harpistic ancestry from the legendary harpist, composer and teacher Carlos Salzedo.
